Automatic chargers for 6V and 12V gel and AGM batteries and battery chargers

Available in the offer of our online store BTO automatic battery chargers for VRLA gel batteries (GEL and AGM) with a voltage rating of 6V and 12V, allow fast and safe charging of gel batteries and AGM batteries.

Products from industry-respected brands EMOS, Everpower or H-TRONIC, help expressly replenish 12V and 6V rechargeable batteries used in security systems, motorcycles, cars, boats and other types of vehicles and equipment.

How does the automatic charger for gel and AGM batteries work?

Automatic chargers for 12V or 6V gel and AGM batteries work to safely charge the battery, according to the manufacturer's recommendations. The charging process takes place in four phases.

  1. First phase - constant-current charging: the battery is charged with a constant current. The current value should not exceed 0.3 of the battery capacity, and optimally should be 0.1 of the cell capacity.

  2. Phase two - constant-voltage charging: when the battery reaches a certain voltage, the charger automatically switches to constant-voltage charging. The voltage is kept constant, and the charging current gradually decreases.
  3. Phase three - rest charging (maintenance): after the constant-voltage phase is completed, rest charging begins. During this phase, the charger monitors the state of the battery and keeps it fully charged, preventing self-discharge.
  4. Phase four - maintenance: at the end of the charging process, some chargers analyze the state of the battery and perform maintenance activities, such as desulfurization, to recover the battery's lost capacity.

During the entire charging process, it is important to monitor the temperature of the battery so that it does not exceed a safe level, which could lead to damage to the cell.

What is the difference between a charger and a charger for charging gel batteries? Which chargers can you find in the BTO store?

An automatic charger allows you to safely charge the battery without constant supervision. Advanced electronics take care of the proper charging parameters (current and voltage), help control the process and disconnect the power supply when the battery charging process is over.

The rectifier does not have advanced features and requires closer supervision of charging. This type of system is often used by owners of passenger vehicles to charge 12V automotive batteries used in cars using 230V mains power in the garage.

It is worth noting that in BTO's online store you can find battery chargers equipped with a number of practical solutions to help charge lead-acid batteries quickly and safely. Depending on the model, the chargers have electronic protection against short-circuiting, reverse polarity and overcharging. They support a wide range of battery capacities - cells with capacities ranging from 1.2Ah to 63Ah.

How to choose a good gel battery charger?

First of all, you should pay attention to the basic ratings of the charger and the battery you want to charge. You can follow the rule of thumb, which says that the number denoting the charging current delivered by the charger (expressed in A - amps) should be about 20-25% more than the capacity of the battery (expressed in Ah - amp-hours). For example, you can charge a 12Ah battery with a charger offering a current of 15A.

You should also remember that the charger's output voltage should be equivalent to the battery voltage - if the cell is 12V, you can't charge it with a 24V charger!

The quality of the battery charger kit is also an important consideration - it is often worth spending more money on the purchase and enjoying a reliable AGM and GEL charger for several years.

Choose reliable chargers for 12V and 6V gel batteries from the BTO store!

If you are looking for a 6V, 12V or 24V AGM charger or charger, allowing you to safely and efficiently charge a VRLA gel battery of any type, then take advantage of the range of our store. Our professional advisors will help you select an AGM and gel battery charger with parameters tailored to the needs of your chosen application.
